Farmstay.

  • Soldier Settler.

As featured in Fleurieu Living Magazine, Soldier Settler is a much-loved original 1950s farmhouse nestled within the iconic merino sheep and cattle property of Eleanor Downs on Kangaroo Island.

Set privately within 1,500 hectares of rolling farmland, this character-filled home offers sweeping rural views and complete tranquillity. Wake to mist over paddocks, watch kangaroos and wallabies graze at dusk, spot koalas in the gums, and if you’re lucky, glimpse an echidna wandering past — all from your own backyard.

Soldier Settler invites you to experience authentic farm life in comfort. Explore the beauty of a working, sustainable property by day, then unwind by the fire at night with a glass of local wine. Play board games, read from the bookshelf, or settle in for a cosy movie evening.

Soldier Settler offers 1 king, 2 queen and 2 single beds to sleep 8 people comfortably.

Whether you’re seeking a romantic escape, a family getaway, or a peaceful retreat immersed in nature, this is Kangaroo Island at its most genuine and unforgettable.

  • The Shearing Shed.

The Shearing Shed is a beautifully restored piece of local history, now reimagined as a unique gathering space at the heart of the farm — and a memorable base for your camping stay.

After working hard for over 50 years as a functioning shearing shed, it has been lovingly revived with its original character intact. Camp beneath wide country skies and enjoy access to this warm, welcoming space to relax and connect. Inside, you’ll find a stunning 1860s grand piano centre stage beside a crackling fireplace, along with a rustic bar that makes every evening feel special.

The Shearing Shed offers outside toilets and shower. Basic kitchen facilities and a BBQ.

It’s camping — with history, atmosphere and a touch of magic.
