The Shearing Shed
The Shearing Shed is a beautifully restored piece of local history — a building that worked hard for over 50 years as a functioning shearing shed, and now has a whole new life as a truly unique community venue.
Lovingly brought back to life with its original character intact, the Shed has been transformed into an authentic, welcoming space designed for people to gather, celebrate and connect. At its heart sits a stunning 1860s grand piano, centre stage beside a crackling fireplace, with a bar that makes the whole space feel equal parts rustic and unforgettable.
Over the years, The Shearing Shed has hosted everything from music festivals and comedy nights, to horse events, women’s retreats, intimate dinner parties, footy community breakups, and local meetings — each event adding another layer to its story.

Piano Recital for RUOK
🎹 Piano on the Farm 🎹
Join Island pianists Olivia Baker & Daniel Crawford for a free recital at the iconic Eleanor Downs Farm. Presented by Kangaroo Island Our Town, in support of RUOK? to promote conversations about good mental health.
🎶 Expect Debussy, Chopin, Bach, Beethoven, plus Einaudi, Tiersen (Amélie) & Nyman (The Piano), all on Olivia's grand piano, freshly tuned by Joe Leaver.
🥐 Sweet & savoury French patisseries from Les Douceurs de Sooz from 12.30pm. BYO picnic & rugs (no alcohol, please!).

After a little break, The Shearing Shed’s Sunday Sessions are back, and we’re celebrating with a full afternoon of music, food and good company.
Come early, settle in and make an afternoon of it — or drop by for your favourite part of the program. Stay for a while or stay for the whole afternoon. There’s something for everyone.

Get here early and treat yourself! Delicious French patisserie will be arriving at 12:30pm, perfect with a coffee or as an afternoon indulgence.
1:00pm – Classical Piano Concert 🎹
Take your seat for an afternoon of beautiful classical piano music in the unique surrounds of The Shearing Shed. Presented by Kangaroo Island Our Town in support of RuOK?
3:00pm – Open Mic 🎤
It’s time to take the stage! Our open mic session kicks off at 3:00pm. Whether you’re an experienced performer or simply love to have a go, come along and share your music with us.

We’re thrilled to welcome Jacky Heeler, the much-loved band from Kangaroo Island, to The Shearing Shed. Settle in for an afternoon of live music and enjoy the sounds of this fantastic South Australian band.
